According to a 2006 survey sponsored by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, most kids who drop out of school don't leave because of poor grades. They leave because life circumstances force their education to become a lower priority in their lives: they got pregnant; they have to take care of a sick family member; they have to work to support their families; they were bullied in school.

Regardless of the reason for dropping out, what's abundantly clear is that these kids need flexibility. They need to be able to go to school on a non-traditional schedule. They need to be able to go to school without having to be IN school.
